The Institute of Textile Technology (ITA) at RWTH Aachen University was founded in 1934 to meet the growing demand for higher technological education in the Aachen region, which was characterised by advanced industrialisation, particularly in textile production. The institute focuses on mechanical engineering and textile process engineering, polymer technology and high-performance fibre materials, textile preforming and fibre composites, medical technology, smart textiles and joining technology as well as simulation and measurement technology. In addition, numerous other industrial sectors such as the sporting goods industry are served with targeted innovations for new processes and textile materials.
The ITA and EPC have a close partnership for many years with a lively exchange in fields of material development and research.
Michael Streng (Technology Director) and Jörg Hamann (Head of Innovations Technology Development) presented a voucher worth EUR 1000.00 to Prof Dr Thomas Gries (Head of the ITA) on behalf of the EPC for friendly support in upcoming research projects.
