The first phase of the modernisation of the existing electrical system, focusing on the supply infrastructure, has been successfully completed and commissioned.
XFAB in Erfurt is a leading semiconductor manufacturer that develops and produces customised integrated circuits (ICs) and microsystems, particularly for applications in automotive, industrial and medical technology.
As part of the project, four transformers were replaced after around 40 years of operation in order to sustainably strengthen the power supply to the auxiliary services hall and increase operational reliability.
EPC Engineering & Technologies was responsible for the planning and construction supervision of the project. The work was carried out by WEA Wärme- und Energieanlagenbau GmbH from Erfurt.
The official inauguration took place this week with over 60 attendees and marks an important milestone in the overall project.

Outlook:
The refurbishment of the main medium-voltage distribution system for the entire site will follow later this year.
The modernisation of transformer stations 17 and 18 is also planned for next year.
