The first phase of the modernisation of the existing electrical system, focusing on the supply infrastructure, has been successfully completed and commissioned.

XFAB in Erfurt is a leading semiconductor manufacturer that develops and produces customised integrated circuits (ICs) and microsystems, particularly for applications in automotive, industrial and medical technology.

As part of the project, four transformers were replaced after around 40 years of operation in order to sustainably strengthen the power supply to the auxiliary services hall and increase operational reliability.

EPC Engineering & Technologies was responsible for the planning and construction supervision of the project. The work was carried out by WEA Wärme- und Energieanlagenbau GmbH from Erfurt.

EPC congratulates Zhangzhou CHIMEI Chemical Co., Ltd. on the successful completion and commissioning of the 180 KTPA Polycarbonate Project located in Zhangzhou, China. Throughout the whole project execution period, both companies worked hard and closely together to ensure a successful project execution.

CHINAPLAS is recognized as one of the leading international trade fairs for the plastics and rubber industries and serves as an important platform for technological innovation and global exchange.

EPC Engineering & Technologies will be represented at the German Pavilion, Hall 2.1, Booth F06, where the company will present its latest engineering capabilities, technologies, and project experience. A key highlight will be the company’s latest polycarbonate technology, designed to enhance production efficiency, product quality, and sustainability.

In addition, EPC Engineering & Technologies will showcase its expertise in plant revamping and modernization of existing polycarbonate and polyester plants. These solutions aim to upgrade installed production assets, improve operational performance, and align facilities with current market requirements and sustainability standards.

EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH was honoured to attend the official signing ceremony of China Energy Yulin Chemical Limited Company in Shanghai on 6th of November. The event marked a significant milestone for both partners and underscored the continued growth of high-performance polymer production in China.

In August 2025, EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH was selected as the technology licensor for a new 260 KTA polycarbonate production plant to be built in Shaanxi Province, China. The project will apply EPC’s proven polycarbonate technology process, to produce high-quality polycarbonate grades for domestic and international markets.

China Energy Yulin Chemical is part of CHN Energy, one of China’s largest state-owned energy and chemical groups. CHN Energy is active across the entire value chain, including electricity generation, petrochemical production, transport logistics, and renewable energy assets such as wind and solar. Its chemical division continues to expand into higher-value downstream materials with strategic investments in engineering plastics.

Stuttgart/Arnstadt – EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH from Arnstadt, in close cooperation with Coperion GmbH from Stuttgart, have developed a groundbreaking one-step process for the direct compounding of polycarbonate (PC) melt. This new technology offers a highly flexible and cost-efficient solution for the production of high-quality PC products using non-phosgene polymerization.
At the heart of this innovation is the direct compounding of the PC melt, straight from the final polymerization reactor outlet with various polymers (like ABS) or additives. This eliminates the need for separate and additional compounding facilities and simplifies the overall PC compounds production process considerably.
One of the most significant advantages of this one-step process is the substantial reduction in energy consumption. The PC melt now is directly transferred from the final polycarbonate polymerization reactor, together with other plastics like ABS and additives, into a special one-step direct compounding extruder. The Coperion ZSK twin screw extruder mixes and homogenizes the ready-made PC compound melt before the final pelletizing step. This new technology eliminates the need of an intermediate PC granules storage and further PC chips conveying systems towards a separate compounding facility. It also eliminates the reheating/re-melting of a 2nd step extrusion system, overall resulting in a significant increase in energy efficiency. Therefore, and depending on the product mix, operational cost savings of up to 1 million USD per 100 kta can be achieved.
