The passion that the EPC Group has for engineering and plant construction has been passed down through many family generations from its founders, the Henkel family. As shown by old documents, machinery from the Henkel family has been awarded prizes at a number of exhibitions as early as 1894.
Almost a century later, the first company of EPC Group was founded as EPC Engineering Consulting GmbH in Rudolstadt, Germany. After the reunification of Germany, the success story continued where it had begun in Thuringia, Germany. Since its inception EPC Group has continuously developed, formed new subsidiaries and expanded its international business portfolio.

August Oskar Henkel founds the company A.O. in Cursdorf. Henkel for the manufacture of agricultural machinery. The company A.O. Henkel is awarded the silver medal at the Thuringian trade and industry exhibition in Erfurt

MOVING WITH THE PRODUCTION
The production of the machine factory A.O. Henkel
is relocated to Schwarzmühle and expanded.

The machine factory A.O. Henkel is passed on to the next generation – Carl, Oskar and Albin Henkel. The company A.O. Henkel receives a certificate of honor for exhibiting excellent agricultural machinery and equipment

Albin Henkel, son of the company founder, continues to run the company as a business and trade in agricultural machinery and is later taken over by Karl Henkel, the grandson of the machine factory’s founder

From now on, EPC Engineering Consulting GmbH and EPC Technology GmbH form the EPC Group together with HI Bauprojekt, which is based in Jena. EPC Technology GmbH opens a branch in Leuna and takes over employees from the former research department of the Leuna works

EXPANSION AND EXTENSION
OF BUSINESS AREAS
The EPC Group opens further locations in Alzenau and Arnstadt and expands its know-how in the field of polymerisation and chemical plants. CRYOTEC Anlagenbau GmbH is added to the EPC Group as an additional company. Peter Henkel’s descendants – Nadine, Jens, Ulf and Tim Henkel, will become the new managing directors of the EPC Group
